About The Position

The Sales & Events Manager at Hotel Zoso is responsible for meeting and exceeding sales goals for assigned market segments through proactive sales efforts. This role focuses on achieving revenue goals through a strategic sales plan, client development, managing key relationships, networking, and identifying new target markets. Additionally, the position involves managing event planning and execution, acting as a liaison between operations and clients, and ensuring client satisfaction throughout the process. The role requires maintaining accurate records, reporting achievements, and adapting to market conditions. It also involves soliciting new business, participating in industry events, conducting site inspections, and handling RFPs. Event management includes obtaining necessary information for planning, providing details to operating departments, and preparing event-related documents. The role also encompasses general responsibilities such as achieving goals, maximizing efficiency, forecasting revenue, maintaining inter-departmental relationships, and ensuring accurate billing and accounting standards are met. Adherence to Columbia Hospitality Policies and Procedures is mandatory, with additional functions assigned based on business needs.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1-3 years of hospitality sales experience.
  • Possess knowledge and expertise in sales and/or event management with strong sales and negotiation skills.
  • Attention to detail with the ability to accurately read/write business correspondence effectively.
  • Ability to think creatively and develop innovative solutions or approaches.
  • Strong personal skills, including time management, information analysis, problem-solving, planning and organizing, decision making, problem solving, and delivery of results.
  • Demonstrates a strong grasp of mathematical operations. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all applicable units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
  • Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office; Word, PowerPoint, Teams, OneNote, and Excel.
  • Proficiency in conducting client research, gathering relevant information, and staying updated on industry trends and developments.
  • Ability to travel (including air or car, hotel overnight stays, and client entertainment.)

Responsibilities

  • Meeting and exceeding sales goals of assigned market segments through proactive sales efforts.
  • Achieving revenue goals through a sales plan and strategy, client development, managing key relationships, networking, and identifying new target markets.
  • Maintaining accurate and timely records of activities and relevant client contact information within the Sales & Events database.
  • Reporting weekly achievements against goals for prospecting, inquiries, activities, and industry events.
  • Adjusting goals and achieving goals based on market conditions.
  • Soliciting and securing new business for assigned market segments by making outside sales calls.
  • Participating in trade shows, promotional events, and industry events.
  • Conducting site inspections and client presentations.
  • Responding to inbound RFPs (requests for proposals) within 24 hours.
  • Client negotiations, closing tactics, and contractual language.
  • Differentiating from the competition and bringing value to potential customers.
  • Implementing sales plan based on demand segments to maximize market share.
  • Obtaining necessary information to ensure efficient event planning, including meeting setups, food and beverage specifications, AV requirements, etc.
  • Providing information to operating departments based on property guidelines.
  • Acting as a liaison between the operations department and client.
  • Monitoring client’s satisfaction throughout planning and execution of event.
  • Preparing Event Orders, Resumes, Diagrams, and other related documents and distributing to property departments.
  • Conducting meetings to review information with other property departments.
  • Managing accounts and follow-up with client re-solicitation to capture future repeat business.
  • Achieving assigned goals and objectives.
  • Maximizing efficiencies for time management and productivity.
  • Forecasting revenue of assigned groups.
  • Developing and maintaining favorable working relationships and open communication with all departments.
  • Establishing and maintaining positive, professional relationships with clients.
  • Complying with accounting standards (deposits, direct billing, and pre-payment).
  • Confirming accurate revenue posting and client billing.
  • Developing a full working knowledge of all applicable standards, policies and procedures.
  • Attending required meetings.
  • Achieving client sentiment goals.
  • Adhering to Columbia Hospitality Policies and Procedures.
