About The Position

The Sales Estimator’s primary responsibility is to maximize the long-term success of Nucor by efficiently performing accurate joist & deck takeoffs to create high-quality sales proposals, while also effectively communicating with engineers, customers, and teammates to develop value-added solutions. This position requires a high level of collaboration with the sales team and taking ownership of day-to-day tasks to ensure all estimates are completed in a timely manner. The work location for this role can be in Chemung, NY, King of Prussia, PA or in Salem, NH. Safety is the most important aspect of all Nucor jobs, therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Requirements

  • Basic construction experience is required (field, estimating, detailing, or related industry experience).
  • Willingness to work extended hours beyond a standard 40 hour workweek when workload and deadlines require.
  • AI competency is required, including the ability to learn, adopt, and leverage AI tools to support team growth and continuous improvement.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft software, such as Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word.
  • Working knowledge of SAP.
  • Working knowledge of detailing or estimating software.
  • Two years of experience in the steel and/or construction industry or a two degree in business, sales, marketing, construction management, engineering, or related field.
  • Mobility for future advancement opportunities within Nucor.
  • Experience reading structural drawings and project specifications, as well as a general understanding of the construction process.
