About The Position

The Estimator plays a key role in supporting the sales team by preparing accurate and competitive project estimates. This position is responsible for reviewing construction documents, performing accurate material takeoffs, coordinating with vendors to secure quotes, and reviewing those quotes for accuracy of quantities and compliance with project specifications, and assisting in the preparation and submission of the overall bid. The Estimator collaborates closely with sales, project management, and vendors to ensure all estimates align with project specifications, timelines, and company standards. This role also requires consistent tracking and management of all bid opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, construction management, engineering, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Commercial Glazing experience with curtain wall
  • Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to provide practical solutions
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, including Teams and Excel
  • Experience with Bluebeam Revu required
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications

Nice To Haves

  • AutoCAD, AutoDesk, and Revit experience a plus
  • Experience with Acumatica or similar ERP/CRM systems preferred
  • Ability to read and understand unitized and commodity curtainwall system details is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the sales team to support the estimating and bidding process
  • Create and maintain organized project folders in accordance with company protocols
  • Review construction drawings, specifications, and other technical documents
  • Perform on-screen takeoffs using Bluebeam Revu
  • Develop detailed material takeoffs for assigned scopes of work
  • Solicit and obtain vendor quotes that align with project specifications
  • Review vendor quotes for accuracy, completeness, and compliance
  • Prepare estimate workbooks, including material costs, labor codes, and project-specific requirements
  • Track all sales opportunities and record bid activity
  • Attend project walkthroughs, pre-bid meetings, and internal meetings as required
  • Provide meeting notes and updates to the sales team when applicable
  • Build and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers
  • Develop familiarity with current materials, systems, and product offerings
  • Collaborate with sales, manufacturing, and project management to understand bidding strategies, labor forecasting, and construction processes
  • Shadow project managers and field teams to gain knowledge of installation methods
  • Participate in sales meetings and provide updates on active and upcoming bids
  • Follow up on bids, RFIs, quotes, and other project-related items as directed
  • Position requires flexibility based on specific project needs, requirements, and deadlines
