About The Position

This role is for a Sales Engineer who will serve as a key technical partner to the Sales organization in Africa, collaborating with Sales Managers, Field Project Engineers, Pre-Sales Engineers, and the broader Sales Network to effectively position Genetec's solutions. The Sales Engineer will be the primary technical point of contact for customers and internal teams, ensuring solutions are understood, trusted, and successfully implemented.

Requirements

  • Senior technical professional with strong experience in customer-facing roles and the ability to guide partners and end users through complex solutions.
  • Deep technical understanding combined with excellent communication skills and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.
  • Strong technical expertise, ideally with hands-on experience in: IP networking & protocols, Windows operating systems, PC configuration, Implementing or integrating complex software solutions.
  • 5+ years of experience in customer- or partner-facing roles within a technology-driven environment (security industry experience strongly preferred).
  • Strong pre-sales or technical customer support background, with the ability to translate technical requirements into tailored solutions.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, comfortable demonstrating complex technology to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Analytical mindset and strong problem-solving skills, including incident analysis and resolution.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize effectively, and deliver within timelines.
  • High customer orientation, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to build trust quickly.
  • A proactive, positive attitude, combined with curiosity, innovation, and a drive to achieve objectives.
  • Understanding of the local security markets across Africa (ecosystem, technologies, trends).
  • Professional language skills: English.

Nice To Haves

  • Engineering degree (electronics, computer science, electrical engineering, or similar).
  • Practical background as a security system installer, commissioner, or system integrator.
  • MCSE, CCNA, or similar certifications.
  • Familiarity with Genetec’s product ecosystem.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a strong technical understanding of Genetec’s product portfolio and stay up to date with new features and releases.
  • Define the most suitable solutions based on customer and partner requirements, ensuring technical alignment and value creation.
  • Build and maintain excellent relationships with customers, partners, and key stakeholders across the region.
  • Deliver high-impact product demonstrations and presentations, showcasing the full capabilities of our solutions.
  • Provide technical expertise to Sales teams, supporting responses to customer requirements and specifications.
  • Work closely with the Technical Support team to ensure a seamless transition from pre-sales to post-sales and successful solution deployment.
  • Represent Genetec at industry events, specialized security fairs, exhibitions, and seminars, acting as a regional technical ambassador.
  • Create and contribute to technical content, such as white papers, positioning yourself as an expert on Genetec technologies.
  • Share field insights and technical feedback with Product Management to support continuous product improvement.
  • Implement complex software solutions, supporting customers throughout the technical evaluation and deployment phase.
  • Travel approximately 40% of the time, engaging with customers, partners, and internal teams across the region.
