About The Position

The Sales Engineer serves as a technical advisor and trusted consultant for RTI customers, supporting account managers and strategic sales initiatives focused on data center infrastructure, storage, virtualization, hybrid cloud, and data protection solutions. This role leverages deep expertise in NetApp storage technologies while supporting opportunities involving HPE and Dell server platforms and related infrastructure solutions. The Sales Engineer is responsible for helping customers align technology investments with business objectives through solution design, technical consultation, demonstrations, proposal development, and vendor engagement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in computer engineering, computer science, or related field is preferred.
  • 5+ years' experience in IT Infrastructure roles is highly desired.
  • 3+ years’ experience of pre-sales engineering or technical consulting.
  • Ability to travel. Position can be up to 50% travel, both in and out of state, including overnight stays.
  • Must have an exceptional driving record and have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to pass drug screening and background check.
  • Must have the ability to move equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to climb ladders and be comfortable working at heights of 3 to 40 ft.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct customer discovery meetings to understand business requirements, infrastructure challenges, growth plans, and technology objectives.
  • Develop solution architectures and recommendations that align with customer requirements and RTI best practices.
  • Create technical designs, diagrams, BOMs (Bills of Materials), scopes of work, and supporting documentation.
  • Deliver presentations, demonstrations, workshops, and technical briefings.
  • Translate technical capabilities into business-focused outcomes and value propositions.
  • Assist with the development of proposals, RFP responses, and technical recommendations.
  • Support pricing discussions by ensuring solutions are technically accurate, competitive, and aligned to customer objectives.
  • Provide strategic guidance on infrastructure modernization, storage optimization, hybrid cloud adoption, and data protection initiatives.
  • Assist customers with storage refreshes, performance optimization, migration planning, and long-term data management strategies.
  • Support architecture development for: Virtualization environments, Backup and disaster recovery solutions, Hybrid cloud deployments, Data center consolidation projects, High availability environments, Business continuity initiatives
  • Build trusted advisor relationships with IT leadership, infrastructure teams, and executive stakeholders
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.
