About The Position

The Sales Engineer V will be responsible for negotiating sales opportunities, creating basic piping layouts, gathering project details, and managing projects from initiation through delivery. This role requires building and maintaining strong customer relationships and loyalty, demonstrating effective navigation of complex sales situations, and possessing practical engineering and design capabilities. The ideal candidate will be organized, detail-oriented, able to manage multiple priorities, and have industry knowledge with familiarity with technical systems. They will also need logical reasoning and decision-making skills to identify technical or operational challenges, evaluate options, and implement effective solutions. The role involves analyzing customer needs to develop appropriate product designs, operating and understanding relevant equipment and systems, and adapting technology and equipment to meet customer requirements. Performing basic structural or piping analysis (Bentley AutoPipe experience a plus), evaluating costs, benefits, and impacts of potential actions, understanding system behavior, and identifying performance indicators are also key responsibilities. Additionally, the Sales Engineer will manage personal time, coordinate team activities, plan and track project expenditures, and motivate, develop, and guide team members. Securing and managing equipment, materials, and facilities needed for project success is also part of the role.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Engineering or related field
  • 2–3 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Exposure to lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and 5S
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Understanding of OSHA and related safety regulations
  • Effective problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills
  • Strong technical curiosity and ability to understand complex applications and system requirements
  • Professional communication skills across engineering, purchasing, maintenance, and executive levels
  • Self-motivated, organized, and capable of managing multiple customer requests and opportunities
  • Commercially minded with an understanding of balancing customer needs, technical fit, and profitability
  • Willingness to travel for customer meetings, site visits, trade shows, and business development activities
  • Use databases to organize and report information
  • Create and manipulate graphics
  • Develop and deliver presentations
  • Build and maintain spreadsheets with charts and data analysis
  • Use measuring and drafting tools (laser tape measures, levels, drafting scales, templates, compasses, etc.)

  • Bentley AutoPipe experience
  • Experience using OpEx/CBS tools
  • Demonstrated success in facilitating operational changes
  • Ability to interpret process and product specifications
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 or similar standards
  • Additional background in safety and industrial hygiene regulations
