About The Position

The Sales Engineer V is responsible for negotiating sales opportunities, creating basic piping layouts, gathering project details, and managing projects from initiation through delivery. This role involves building and maintaining strong customer relationships, demonstrating effective navigation of complex sales situations, and applying practical engineering and design capabilities. The position requires strong interpersonal and communication abilities, organized and detail-oriented work habits, and the capacity to manage multiple priorities. Industry knowledge and familiarity with technical systems, along with logical reasoning and decision-making skills, are essential. The Sales Engineer V will identify technical or operational challenges, evaluate options, and implement effective solutions, analyze customer needs to develop appropriate product designs, and adapt technology and equipment to meet customer requirements. They will also perform basic structural or piping analysis, evaluate costs, benefits, and impacts of potential actions, understand system behavior, and identify performance indicators for corrective actions. Additionally, the role involves managing personal time, coordinating team activities, planning and tracking project expenditures, and securing necessary equipment, materials, and facilities.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Engineering or related field
  • 2–3 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Exposure to lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and 5S
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Understanding of OSHA and related safety regulations
  • Effective problem‑solving and root‑cause analysis skills
  • Strong technical curiosity and ability to understand complex applications and system requirements
  • Professional communication skills across engineering, purchasing, maintenance, and executive levels
  • Self‑motivated, organized, and capable of managing multiple customer requests and opportunities
  • Commercially minded with an understanding of balancing customer needs, technical fit, and profitability
  • Willingness to travel for customer meetings, site visits, trade shows, and business development activities
  • Use databases to organize and report information
  • Create and manipulate graphics
  • Develop and deliver presentations
  • Build and maintain spreadsheets with charts and data analysis
  • Use measuring and drafting tools (laser tape measures, levels, drafting scales, templates, compasses, etc.)

Nice To Haves

  • Bentley AutoPipe experience
  • Experience using OpEx/CBS tools
  • Demonstrated success in facilitating operational changes
  • Ability to interpret process and product specifications
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 or similar standards
  • Additional background in safety and industrial hygiene regulations
