About The Position

CoolSys is seeking a driven, results-oriented Sales Director to grow its on-site Distributed Energy Resource (DER) business. The role focuses on promoting on-site power and energy solutions—including battery energy storage systems, combined heat and power units, standby and linear generators, fuel cells, and turbines—to commercial and industrial customers. The Sales Director will build enterprise relationships, explain the reliability, sustainability, and cost advantages of these solutions, identify new business opportunities, and develop tailored power solutions for mission-critical facilities. The position leads go-to-market strategy and complex sales cycles across North America, from prospecting through negotiation and closing. It works closely with customers and internal engineering, product, and finance teams to develop technical and commercial proposals, including ROI analyses, pricing, scope, and implementation plans. The role also maintains a qualified pipeline and accurate forecasts, monitors developments in the power industry, and represents the company at relevant events. Travel to client sites and industry events is approximately 50% or more as needed.

Requirements

  • Extensive B2B sales experience in energy or infrastructure solutions, preferably 10 or more years.
  • A track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets in complex, solution-oriented sales environments.
  • Strong knowledge of distributed energy and on-site power technologies, especially battery energy storage, fuel cell systems, microgrids, and prime power generation such as natural gas or diesel generators, CHP units, and turbines.
  • Ability to understand electrical infrastructure and explain technical concepts and reliability benefits to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with expertise in consultative, value-based selling.
  • Strategic ability to develop go-to-market plans and adapt to market conditions, along with the ability to drive new business independently.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Energy Management, or a related field.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 50% or more to client sites and industry events as needed.
  • High proficiency with CRM software such as Salesforce and MS Office for opportunity tracking and proposal development.

  • MBA or relevant technical master’s degree.
  • Professional training or certification in energy systems, electrical engineering, or project finance.
  • Strong understanding of power market dynamics, energy regulations, and sustainability trends.
