About The Position
The Sales Associate (Customer Service Associate) welcomes customers to Lowe’s and helps them find the right products and services for home improvement needs. The role involves listening to customers, answering questions, assisting with product selection and handling, organizing and replenishing merchandise, processing orders and deliveries, and guiding customers through shopping or checkout. Associates work in a department determined by hiring needs and skillsets, such as Pro Services, Appliances, Cabinets, Flooring, Garden, Hardware, Tools, Millwork, Building Materials, Plumbing, Electrical, Paint, Home Décor, or Tool Rental. Department-specific duties may include preparing merchandise to meet customer needs, such as tinting and mixing paint, cutting and threading pipe, cutting and bundling wood, cutting drywall, or cutting blinds. The role may also involve occasional merchandise loading and cross-functional training in other store areas. The position does not require regular travel, although occasional travel to meetings, training, or neighboring stores may be needed. Work may take place indoors and outdoors, with exposure to varying climates and noise, as well as moving or shaking objects and equipment. Physical tasks may include prolonged standing or sitting, lifting merchandise, and using powered equipment in accordance with training and safety guidelines.
Requirements
- At least 6 months of experience using a computer, including inputting, accessing, modifying, or outputting information.
- At least 6 months of experience using common retail technology, such as smartphones and tablets.
- Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic, including addition and subtraction.
- Ability to perform duties that may require prolonged standing, sitting, and other activities necessary for the job.
- Ability to lift at least 25 pounds unassisted, or lift over 25 pounds with or without an accommodation.
Nice To Haves
- At least 6 months of retail and/or customer service experience.
- Bilingual skills.
- Certification in a trade related to the department, such as hardware, kitchen, plumbing, electrical, lawn and garden, or lumber/building materials.
Responsibilities
- Welcome customers, answer questions, and provide friendly, professional customer service.
- Assist customers with locating and handling merchandise.
- Down stock merchandise by identifying empty shelf areas and replenishing supplies.
- Process orders and deliveries accurately so customers receive merchandise as expected and on time.
- Cross-functionally train in other areas of the store to help deliver customer service.
- Prepare merchandise according to customer needs, including tinting and mixing paint, cutting and threading pipe, cutting and bundling wood, cutting drywall, or cutting blinds.
- Guide customers through shopping or checkout.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
