About The Position
The Sales Associate serves as a point of contact for customers and supports store operations by maintaining merchandise presentation, stocking products, and completing transactions. The role also includes receiving and unpacking deliveries, building displays, maintaining store cleanliness, and performing other duties as needed to support profitability, customer satisfaction, teamwork, and protection of company assets. This position requires frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, and handling merchandise and equipment. It involves lifting up to 40 pounds frequently and up to 55 pounds occasionally, occasional step-ladder use up to six feet, and occasional exposure to outside weather conditions. The environment is fast-paced with moderate noise.
Requirements
- Effective interpersonal and oral communication skills.
- Understanding of safety policies and practices.
- Ability to read and follow plan-o-gram and merchandise-presentation guidance.
- Knowledge of basic cash-handling procedures.
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Ability to perform IBM cash register functions.
- Frequent and proper lifting of up to 40 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 55 pounds.
- Ability to push and/or pull rolltainers for stocking merchandise.
- Ability to use a step ladder to climb occasionally to heights of six feet.

Responsibilities
- Greet customers and assist them by locating merchandise.
- Unload trucks and receive, open, and unpack cartons and totes according to company work processes.
- Store merchandise in the stockroom or move it directly to the sales floor.
- Build merchandise displays and stock, rotate, face, and restock merchandise.
- Operate the cash register and flatbed scanner to itemize and total purchases, bag merchandise, collect payments, and make change.
- Assist with ordering merchandise using handheld scanners as needed.
- Bail cardboard and take out trash; dust and mop store floors; and clean the restroom, stockroom, and front end of the store.
- Help set up sidewalk displays when necessary.
- Follow company policies and procedures and comply with safety practices.
- Perform other duties as necessary to support profitability, customer satisfaction, teamwork, and protection of company assets.
