About The Position

This is a part-time customer service role focused on giving customers immediate and complete attention while explaining, demonstrating, and selling woodworking supplies and tools. When not assisting customers, the Sales Associate maintains the sales floor through facing, dusting, and general housekeeping. The position also supports store merchandising, handles sales and refunds, and may assist with truck unloading and other assigned duties. Attendance during scheduled shifts is an essential function of the role.

Requirements

• High school graduate or GED.
• Knowledge of woodworking and hand tools.
• Ability to understand customers’ requests and determine how best to respond to their needs.
• Ability to assess situations in which merchandise returns or refunds can be authorized.
• Extremely strong service orientation to maximize customer satisfaction.
• Ability to be a team player and to be outgoing, approachable, and congenial when dealing with customers and associates.
• Ability to stand for long periods.
• Ability to personally lift up to 50 lbs. regularly and participate in team lifting.
• Takes initiative.
• Excellent team player.

Nice To Haves

• Previous retail sales experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers promptly as they enter the store and acknowledge customers encountered in the store.
• Handle retail sales of company products by answering questions about product applications and use and processing transactions through the POS.
• Show customers related products or services they may need for their project as part of a “Total solution.”
• Maintain and merchandise the store to keep displays neat, orderly, well stocked, and appealing.
• Perform sales-floor maintenance, including facing, dusting, and general housekeeping.
• Handle customer refunds and prepare the required documentation according to prescribed procedures.
• Refer customers to other sources when the store does not carry a requested item, with the intent of building goodwill for Rockler Companies, Inc.
• May assist with unloading trucks, pricing, merchandising, and other assigned duties.
• Attend work during scheduled shifts.
