About The Position
The Sales Associate serves as a point of contact for customers and supports store operations by maintaining merchandise displays, stocking and organizing products, and assisting with customer purchases. The role includes receiving and unpacking deliveries, moving merchandise to the stockroom or sales floor, rotating and facing products, and helping customers locate items. Associates also operate the cash register, collect payments, make change, and may assist with merchandise ordering using handheld scanners. Additional duties include cleaning store areas, handling cardboard and trash, setting up sidewalk displays, and following company policies and safety procedures to support profitability, customer satisfaction, teamwork, and protection of company assets. The position involves frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, lifting, and handling merchandise and equipment in a fast-paced environment with moderate noise. It may include occasional ladder use and exposure to outdoor weather conditions. Relocation assistance is not available.
Requirements
- Effective interpersonal and oral communication skills.
- Understanding of safety policies and practices.
- Ability to read and follow plan-o-gram and merchandise presentation guidance.
- Knowledge of basic cash handling procedures.
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Ability to perform IBM cash register functions.
- Frequent walking and standing; frequent bending, stooping, and kneeling.
- Ability to push and/or pull rolltainers for stocking merchandise.
- Frequent proper lifting of up to 40 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 55 pounds.
- Ability to occasionally climb a step ladder to heights of six feet.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities
- Unload trucks and receive, open, and unpack cartons and totes according to company work processes.
- Store merchandise in the stockroom or move it directly to the sales floor.
- Build merchandise displays and stock, rotate, face, and restock merchandise.
- Assist customers by locating merchandise.
- Greet customers and operate the cash register and flatbed scanner to itemize purchases, bag merchandise, collect payment, and make change.
- Assist with ordering merchandise using handheld scanners, as needed.
- Bail cardboard, take out trash, dust and mop store floors, and clean the restroom and stockroom.
- Clean the front end of the store and help set up sidewalk displays when necessary.
- Follow company policies, procedures, and safety practices.
