About The Position

The Sales Associate works in Lowe’s Outside Lawn & Garden department, welcoming customers and helping them find products and services for home improvement needs. The role involves listening to customers, answering questions, assisting with product selection and handling, organizing and replenishing merchandise, processing orders and deliveries, and helping customers through shopping or checkout. Associates may occasionally load merchandise and may be cross-trained in other store areas. Specific duties can vary by department and customer needs. The position may involve working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat or cold, wet, damp, humid, windy, or drafty environments. Associates may encounter noise and moving or shaking objects and equipment. Lifting methods vary by role, weight, and volume; single lifts are limited to 75 pounds, with team lifts used minimally beginning at 75 pounds or when needed. Powered equipment must be used as required, with proper training or assistance from a trained coworker. Regular travel is not required, though occasional travel to meetings, training, or neighboring stores may be needed.

Requirements

At least 6 months of experience using a computer, including inputting, accessing, modifying, or outputting information.
At least 6 months of experience using common retail technology, such as smartphones and tablets.
Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic, including addition and subtraction.
Ability to perform duties that may require prolonged standing, sitting, and other activities necessary to perform the job.
Ability to lift at least 25 pounds unassisted, or more than 25 pounds with or without an accommodation.

Nice To Haves

At least 6 months of retail and/or customer service experience.
Bilingual skills.
A certification in a trade related to the department, such as hardware, kitchen, plumbing, electrical, lawn and garden, or lumber/building materials.

Responsibilities

Welcome customers, answer questions, and provide friendly, professional customer service.
Help customers locate and handle merchandise.
Replenish merchandise by identifying empty shelf areas and restocking them.
Process orders and deliveries accurately so customers receive merchandise as expected and on time.
Cross-train in other store areas to support customer service.
Prepare merchandise based on customer needs, such as tinting and mixing paint, cutting and threading pipe, cutting and bundling wood, cutting drywall, or cutting blinds.
Guide customers through shopping or checkout.
Occasionally load merchandise.
Complete other duties as assigned.
