Full Time - Sales Associate - Building Materials - Closing
About The Position
As a Customer Service Associate in Building Materials, you provide friendly, professional service and help customers find products and services for home improvement projects. You welcome customers, answer questions, assist with product selection and merchandise, and help ensure customer needs are met. The role involves organizing and replenishing merchandise, processing orders and deliveries, and preparing department products for customers. Associates may cross-train in other store areas and perform additional duties as assigned. The position does not require regular travel, though occasional travel to meetings, training, or neighboring stores may be needed.
Requirements
- At least 6 months of experience using a computer to input, access, modify, or output information.
- At least 6 months of experience using common retail technology, such as smartphones and tablets.
- Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic, including addition and subtraction.
- Ability to perform duties that may require prolonged standing, sitting, and other activities needed for the job.
- Ability to lift at least 25 pounds unassisted, or more than 25 pounds with or without an accommodation.
Nice To Haves
- At least 6 months of retail and/or customer service experience.
- Bilingual skills.
- Certification in a trade related to the department, such as hardware, kitchen, plumbing, electrical, lawn and garden, or lumber/building materials.
Responsibilities
- Welcome customers, answer questions, and provide friendly, professional customer service.
- Assist customers with locating and handling merchandise.
- Down stock merchandise by identifying empty shelf areas and replenishing supplies.
- Process orders and deliveries accurately so customers receive merchandise as expected and on time.
- Cross-functionally train in other areas of the store to help deliver customer service.
- Prepare merchandise for customers, such as cutting or bundling building materials, as applicable to the department.
- Guide customers through shopping or checkout.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
