About The Position

The Sales Associate works in the Paint department and provides friendly, professional customer service to help customers find products and services for home improvement projects. The role involves listening to customers, answering questions, helping them select and locate merchandise, and supporting their shopping or checkout experience. Associates may occasionally load merchandise, replenish shelves, process orders and deliveries, and prepare department merchandise, including tinting and mixing paint. Work assignments may vary by department and store needs, and associates may be cross-trained in other areas.

Requirements

• At least 6 months of experience using a computer, including inputting, accessing, modifying, or outputting information.
• At least 6 months of experience using common retail technology, such as smartphones and tablets.
• Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic, including addition and subtraction.
• Ability to perform duties that may require prolonged standing, sitting, and other activities necessary for the role.
• Ability to minimally lift 25 pounds unassisted, or lift more than 25 pounds with or without an accommodation.

Nice To Haves

• At least 6 months of retail and/or customer service experience.
• Bilingual skills.
• Certification in a trade related to the department, such as hardware, kitchen, plumbing, electrical, lawn and garden, or lumber/building materials.

Responsibilities

• Welcome customers, answer questions, and provide friendly, professional customer service.
• Help customers locate, select, and handle merchandise.
• Down stock merchandise by identifying empty shelf areas and replenishing supplies.
• Process orders and deliveries accurately so customers receive merchandise as expected and on time.
• Cross-train in other store areas to support customer service.
• Prepare merchandise for customer needs, such as tinting and mixing paint.
• Guide customers through shopping or checkout.
• Occasionally load merchandise.
• Complete other duties as assigned.
