About The Position

Sales associates represent T & M Hardware & Rental by providing customer service consistent with company values. The role focuses on assisting customers and maintaining a clean, efficient, and inviting sales floor. Associates are expected to keep learning about the retail industry and products, support sales goals, and help with other store tasks as needed. The position involves customer service in person and by phone, merchandising and stocking, inventory support, loading products into vehicles, and following store policies and safety standards.

Requirements

Outstanding customer service skills and a professional attitude.
Working knowledge of the products sold in the store and willingness to continue learning.
Organized, self-starting, independent, and able to solve problems.
Knowledge of effective sales methods and techniques.
Knowledge of point-of-sale systems for price lookups, special orders, and order entry.
Knowledge of MS Word and PowerPoint.
Strong math, reading, writing, and communication skills.
Ability to lift up to 80 lbs.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Responsibilities

Assist customers in person and by phone, answer questions, help locate merchandise, suggest add-on sales, and process special orders as needed.
Maintain a clean, orderly, and inviting sales floor, including housekeeping tasks.
Inform customers about upcoming promotions and new products.
Load products into customers’ vehicles as needed.
Merchandise products according to planograms and maintain signage.
Restock shelves as necessary.
Assist with regular inventory counts.
Face and front products at the beginning and end of shifts and throughout the day as time permits.
Help store staff with other tasks as needed.
Watch for shoplifting and other theft, and respond according to store policy.
Attend all staff meetings.
Follow store policies and safety standards.
Cut keys for customers.
Work toward boosting sales by closing sales and promoting the loyalty program and add-on sales.
Expand product knowledge across all store departments and become versatile enough to assist in other areas.
Develop product knowledge and make recommendations to management about new products and merchandising.
After gaining sufficient experience, mentor new employees and help them understand products and retail concepts.
