About The Position

Uptown Cheapskate is seeking outgoing, dependable team members who enjoy working with people, thrive in a fast-paced retail environment, and take pride in creating a great customer experience. This is a new position with a slight different focus than we are used to, so we are happy to discuss what it looks like with any interested party. We are looking for friendly, highly motivated people to join our crew of Fashion Consultants. Uptown Cheapskate is an exciting retail store concept that sells quality clothing brands at affordable prices. Every month, our franchise stores buy and resell thousands of clothing items that have been gently used at a fraction of the prices originally charged. Our stores feel more like a boutique than a thrift shop, allowing more people to feel comfortable shopping second-hand. At Uptown Cheapskate, we have a passion for sustainable fashion. We are dedicated to reducing the impact of the fashion industry on the planet by being green 365 days per year. Since 2015, Uptown Cheapskate has joined forces with Kid to Kid and buildOn across the nation to raise money to build schools in developing countries. With the support of tens of thousands of customers all across the nation, we’ve far surpassed our initial goal and have raised over $600,000 and funded 18 schools (and counting!).

Responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional customer service by greeting and assisting every customer.
• Keep the sales floor clean, organized, and well-stocked.
• Work as part of a team to maintain a fun, energetic, and welcoming shopping environment.
• Learn current fashion trends and our buying standards.
• Operate the point-of-sale system and assist with transactions.
• Help maintain store appearance and organization throughout each shift.
• Be the voice and point person for difficult customers.
• Help deter theft.
• Make younger staff feel more safe and comfortable at work.
• Interact with potential theft customers.
• Interact with angry customers.
• Escort or be present for young staff at closing shifts.
