Full Time - Sales Associate - Outside Lawn & Garden - Day
About The Position
As a Customer Service Associate in Outside Lawn & Garden, you provide friendly, professional customer service and help customers find products and services for their home improvement needs. You welcome customers, answer questions, assist with locating and handling merchandise, and help ensure their needs are met. The role involves listening to customers, organizing and replenishing merchandise, processing orders and deliveries, and preparing products based on customer needs. Associates may also be cross-trained in other store areas and guide customers through shopping or checkout. Work may involve both indoor and outdoor conditions and occasional travel to meetings, training, or neighboring stores.
Requirements
- At least 6 months of experience using a computer, including inputting, accessing, modifying, or outputting information.
- At least 6 months of experience using common retail technology, such as smartphones and tablets.
- Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic, including addition and subtraction.
- Ability to perform duties that may require prolonged standing, sitting, and other activities necessary to perform the job.
- Ability to lift at least 25 pounds unassisted, or more than 25 pounds with or without an accommodation.
- Follow lifting guidelines, limiting single lifts to 75 pounds; team lifts are used minimally starting at 75 pounds or when needed.
Nice To Haves
- At least 6 months of retail and/or customer service experience.
- Bilingual skills.
- Certification in a trade related to the department, such as hardware, kitchen, plumbing, electrical, lawn and garden, or lumber/building materials.
Responsibilities
- Welcome customers, answer questions, and deliver friendly and professional customer service.
- Assist customers with locating and handling merchandise.
- Down stock merchandise by identifying empty shelf areas and replenishing supplies.
- Process orders and deliveries accurately so customers receive merchandise as expected and on time.
- Cross-functionally train in other areas of the store to help deliver customer service.
- Prepare merchandise for customer needs, such as cutting and bundling wood or preparing other department products.
- Guide customers through shopping or checkout.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
