About The Position

The Sales Associate serves as a point of contact for customers and helps them locate and purchase merchandise. The role includes operating the cash register, stocking and recovering merchandise, cleaning the store, and carrying out other duties assigned by the Store Manager or Manager on Duty to support profitability, customer satisfaction, and protection of company assets.

The work involves frequent walking and standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, handling merchandise and equipment, and lifting up to 40 pounds frequently and up to 55 pounds occasionally. It may also involve pushing rolltainers, occasional ladder climbing to six feet, exposure to outdoor weather, cleaning solutions, slippery floors, and extreme cold in freezers. The environment is fast-paced with moderate noise.

Requirements

• Proficient interpersonal and oral communication skills.
• Understanding of safety policies and practices.
• Ability to read and follow planograms and merchandise presentation guides.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, including percentages.
• Knowledge of cash-handling procedures.
• Ability to perform cash register functions.
• Ability to stock merchandise.
• Knowledge of and willingness to comply with company policies and procedures.
• Frequent lifting of up to 40 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 55 pounds; ability to perform the physical activities described in the working conditions.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service by greeting and assisting customers.
• Operate a cash register and scanner; total purchases, collect payment, make change, bag merchandise, and assist customers with merchandise as needed.
• Unpack, stock, restock, and rotate merchandise, and build merchandise displays according to company processes.
• Clean the store, take out trash, dust and mop floors, clean the restroom and receiving room, and help set up sidewalk displays.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Store Manager or Manager on Duty.
