About The Position
The Sales Associate provides friendly, professional customer service in a Lowe’s store, helping customers identify and select products and services for home improvement projects. Associates welcome customers, answer questions, locate and handle merchandise, and help ensure customers receive accurate orders and deliveries. They may occasionally load merchandise and prepare products to meet customer needs, such as tinting and mixing paint, cutting and threading pipe, cutting and bundling wood, cutting drywall, or cutting blinds. Associates spend much of their time listening to customers, answering questions, and organizing merchandise. Department assignments depend on hiring needs and skillsets and may include Appliances, Cabinets, Flooring, Live Nursery, Inside Garden, Hardware, Tools, Millwork, Building Materials, Plumbing, Electrical, Paint, Home Décor, Tool Rental, or Pro Services. The role may involve cross-training in other store areas. Regular travel is not required, though occasional travel to meetings, training, or neighboring stores may be needed. Working conditions vary by location and may include indoor and outdoor environments, extreme heat or cold, wet or humid conditions, wind or drafts, noise, and moving or shaking objects and equipment. The position requires physical activities such as prolonged standing or sitting and lifting merchandise. Single lifts are limited to 75 pounds under company guidelines; team lifts are used minimally starting at 75 pounds or when needed, and powered equipment should be used when required with proper training or assistance.
Requirements
- At least 6 months of experience using a computer, including inputting, accessing, modifying, or outputting information.
- At least 6 months of experience using common retail technology, such as smartphones and tablets.
- Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic, including addition and subtraction.
- Ability to perform duties that may require prolonged standing, sitting, and other activities necessary to perform the job.
- Ability to lift at least 25 pounds unassisted, or more than 25 pounds with or without an accommodation.
Nice To Haves
- At least 6 months of retail and/or customer service experience.
- Bilingual skills.
- Certification in a trade related to the department, such as hardware, kitchen, plumbing, electrical, lawn and garden, or lumber/building materials.
Responsibilities
- Welcome customers, answer questions, and provide friendly, professional customer service.
- Assist customers with locating and handling merchandise.
- Replenish merchandise by identifying empty shelf areas and down-stocking products.
- Process orders and deliveries accurately so customers receive merchandise as expected and on time.
- Cross-functionally train in other areas of the store to help deliver customer service.
- Prepare merchandise based on customer needs, such as tinting and mixing paint, cutting and threading pipe, cutting and bundling wood, cutting drywall, or cutting blinds.
- Guide customers through shopping or checkout.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
