About The Position

As a Sales Associate, you will represent the company and its brand while helping build its reputation for valuing customers and their opinions. You will assist customers in recognizing their needs for the company’s products and services, learn about the merchandise, and explain its purpose in an educational, insightful, and professional manner. The role calls for a positive, outgoing approach and a desire to serve others and make a positive impact on the organization. The position involves customer service and sales, maintaining store appearance, processing transactions, supporting inventory activities, and following assigned work schedules. Work is typically performed indoors, though outdoor assignments may occur depending on the location. Hours may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

No experience required.
Basic knowledge of products and merchandise.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with customers, peers, and management and to use proper telephone etiquette.
Ability to read, write, and interpret instructional documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Ability to multitask while attending to customers and remain flexible to business needs.
Ability to work as part of a team and take initiative without direct supervision.
Enthusiastic, friendly, and energetic, with a desire to provide outstanding service.
Able to perform frequent movement, talking, hearing, reaching, grabbing, and standing for at least two consecutive hours; occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, and ladder climbing; and lifting at least 25 pounds and up to 50 pounds in some departments.
Vision abilities include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Available to work a variety of hours, potentially including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Nice To Haves

Retail experience preferred but not required.
High school graduate or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

Proactively engage with customers, ask questions, listen to their needs, and direct them to merchandise.
Inform customers about upcoming events, promotions, mobile offers, and the STAR card; provide premier customer service.
Build positive, inclusive, and respectful relationships and take accountability for actions and outcomes.
Maintain the appearance and organization of the store.
Cross-sell and upsell products, understand the store layout, and suggest trends and promotions based on individual customer needs.
Learn product features and trends and use company tools and technology to provide product knowledge and specifications.
Use the point-of-sale system to process cash, exchanges, discounts, gift cards, credit cards, and debit cards; handle cash accurately.
Complete paperwork, reports, and reconciliations.
Complete inventory processes, ensure merchandise is checked in and ticketed accurately, and participate in periodic inventories as needed.
Adhere to the assigned work schedule and follow through accurately and completely on work assignments.
Perform other duties as assigned.
