About The Position

Professional Services Group is now hiring for the Safety Services and De-escalation Response Worker! Are you passionate about supporting at-risk youth and families? Join the PSG team! We are a community-based social services organization dedicated to supporting at-risk families through dynamic, innovative, and culturally-responsive programming. JOB SUMMARY: The Safety Services and Supervised Visitation Programs with PSG work with families referred from the Winnebago County Human Services Department to maintain safety in homes where children are at risk of being removed due to abuse/neglect issues, or families who are in the process of reunification. As the Safety Services De-escalation and Visitation Worker, you will work closely with families to address a wide range of concerns including: safety, enhancing the parent-child relationship, parenting, household management, nutrition, safe and stable housing, service acquisition, education, employment, medical, mental health, and/or substance abuse issues. This role is also responsible for transporting children to supervised visits with their parents, siblings, or other family members, and ensuring a safe and positive visiting experience. Requirements

  • Must have a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Criminal Justice, or related.
  • Must have reliable transportation on a daily basis, a valid driver's license and automobile insurance.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of experience working with youth and families is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Interview and evaluate clients to complete the intake process of the Safety Services and Mobile Response programs.
  • Analyze client situations, capabilities, and problems to determine services required to control safety threats.
  • Act as a resource to evaluate and determine necessary responses in de-escalating crisis situations with youth and families.
  • Conduct face-to-face contact and home visits with families to ensure safety and cooperation with the safety plan.
  • Formulate, implement, evaluate, and review family safety and/or crisis plans.
  • Mentor families in accordance with their safety and/or crisis plans.
  • Provide parenting education, support, and advocacy to program clients through individual, family, and/or group work.
  • Safely transport clients as needed.
