About The Position

This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and delivering de-escalation training programs for city staff. The specialist will assess training needs, create curriculum, conduct training sessions, and evaluate program effectiveness to improve communication and conflict resolution skills across the organization.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Criminal Justice, Psychology, Social Work, Education, Human Resources).
Proven experience in developing and delivering training programs, particularly in de-escalation or conflict resolution.
Excellent presentation, facilitation, and communication skills.
Strong understanding of adult learning principles.
Ability to assess training needs and evaluate program effectiveness.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Nice To Haves

Master's degree in a related field.
Experience working in a municipal or government setting.
Certification in crisis intervention or de-escalation techniques.
Experience with e-learning development tools.

Responsibilities

Develop and design de-escalation training curriculum and materials.
Deliver engaging and effective training sessions to diverse groups of city employees.
Assess training needs and identify areas for improvement in de-escalation strategies.
Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through feedback and performance metrics.
Stay current with best practices and research in de-escalation, crisis intervention, and communication.
Collaborate with various city departments to tailor training to specific needs.
Maintain training records and documentation.
