About The Position

River Edge Behavioral Health in Macon, GA is seeking a De-Escalation Worker for the Crisis Service Diagnostic Center (CSDC). The CSDC program offers tailored assistance and brief (up to 90-day) stabilization for up to sixteen (16) adults aged 18 and above with intellectual or developmental disabilities and/or concurrent IDD/BH diagnoses. These individuals are experiencing psychiatric challenges and/or significant emotional/behavioral changes that impact their essential functions and may jeopardize their ability to remain in their usual home environment. The De-Escalation Worker will use communication or other techniques to stabilize, slow, or reduce the intensity of potentially violent situations without using physical force, or with a reduction in force.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma.
  • At least 2 years working in behavioral health, with individuals intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), or related field.
  • Must have good computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist individuals in crisis with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, feeding, and mobility.
  • Implement interventions developed by behavior analysts in behavior support plan to prevent challenging behaviors and ensure the safety of individuals in crisis.
  • Implement de-escalation strategies to reduce and prevent harmful behaviors during crisis situations.
