About The Position

Provide a safe and secure environment for guests, owners, vendors, and employees by directing the implementation of sound safety, security and emergency methods and practices as dictated by Sundance policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • An Associate's Degree or a Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • 1 to 2 years experience in guest services, report writing, investigative procedures and crowd control preferred.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience in any other related field.
  • Proficiency in creating and using: spreadsheets, databases, word processing, Internet navigation, and e-mail.
  • Efficiency in using smart cell phones for texting, photos, responding to correspondence etc.
  • Use of 2-way radio.
  • Current CPR/AED and First Aid Certifications Required.
  • Must possess a valid U.S. Drivers' License in good standing as determined by Sundance's Insurance Company guidelines.

Nice To Haves

  • Current certification as a Utah State Basic (EMT) Emergency Medical Technician through the Utah Department of Health Bureau of Emergency Medical Services is preferred, but not required.
  • Certified in any of the following: Structure Firefighter I, Structure Firefighter II, Wildland Fire Fighter I or Wildland Fire Fighter II, Security or Police Officers Standards and Training (POST) certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Protect assets and prevent loss of Sundance property from fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry.
  • Act as a first responder to any emergency (i.e., medical, fire, accidents, domestic disturbances, building alarms, severe weather incidents, and any other incident that may require assistance) and coordinate with additional resources (law enforcement, fire department, UDOT) as needed.
  • Respond to medical needs of guests and employees, and complete the appropriate reports.
  • Lead, direct, and support others during times of urgency or emergency in the absence of the Safety Manager or Safety Supervisor.
  • If currently certified as a Basic EMT for the state of Utah, provide First Aid or Basic Life Support to Sundance employees, guests.
  • Call 911 in case of medical emergency, fire or presence of unauthorized persons.
  • Ensure OSHA reportable injuries are communicated in a timely manner.
  • Document employee injuries and level of care for workers' compensation insurance.
  • Follow protocols for post accident and reasonable suspicion drug testing.
  • Record data such as property damage, unusual occurrences, and malfunctioning of equipment, and reports to appropriate members of management.
  • Access control of Sundance property for employees and guests.
  • Permit authorized persons to enter property.
  • Warn violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking, sledding, or carrying forbidden articles, and detain, or expel persons engaging in suspicious or criminal acts.
  • Escort employees to the safe during times of deposit, and escort employees to parking area upon request.
  • Assist guests and employees locked out of their vehicle.
  • Provide after-hours lodging check-ins and respond to guest requests and maintenance calls to the Sundance standard.
  • Communicate maintenance emergencies immediately to Director of Facilities and/or Maintenance Manager.
  • Regulate pedestrian traffic on property to maintain orderly flow and restrict access to areas during private functions and other times as directed.
  • Provide or contract security officers for guests, owners, employees, and special events.
  • Control inventory of transferable assets i.e. radios, pagers, cell phones, building and vehicle keys.
  • Conduct regularly walk through of operations to prevent accidents and ensure safety protocols are in compliance.
  • Patrol buildings and grounds of establishment periodically, docks, lodging areas, vacant rooms, or work sites.
  • Examine doors, windows, and gates to determine that they are locked and secure.
  • Watch for and report irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes, doors and windows left unlocked.
  • Observe staff and guests to guard against theft of company property.
  • Document all guest and employee incidents such as theft, injury, complaints, and disturbances.
  • Investigate root causes of accidents to Sundance standard.
  • Keep all information obtained in any format (verbal, electronic, paper and all others) concerning private or confidential issues unrevealed and unreleased in accordance with confidentiality agreements, policies, and procedures.
  • Set thermostatic controls to maintain specified temperature in buildings or storage rooms.
  • Administer, control and organize lost and found items.
  • Assist guests in retrieving lost items and document return.
  • Fuel and clean the Safety Truck and Polaris vehicles as needed.
  • De-ice walkways when needed.
  • Use two-way radios, cell phones, landline phones, email, and other forms of electronic and non-electronic communication.
  • Adhere to the no idling policy while using company vehicles.
  • Share Sundance's story of land preservation and environmental commitment with employees and guests as appropriate.
