About The Position

Henderson Building Solutions is seeking an entry-level/new graduate Safety Coordinator to support safety programs across assigned projects in Chantilly, Virginia. The role assists with safety compliance, jobsite inspections, hazard identification, safety initiatives, training coordination, and documentation. Working closely with Safety Managers and Safety Specialists, the Safety Coordinator supports day-to-day safety operations and helps reinforce safe work practices and a positive safety culture across project teams.

The position involves work in both office settings and active construction jobsites, including frequent movement around sites to inspect work areas and assess hazards. Travel between jobsites is required, and occasional overnight travel may be necessary.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, construction management, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of safety experience.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification, or ability to obtain it within a defined timeframe.
• Basic understanding of construction safety practices and regulations.
• Ability to identify hazards and follow established safety procedures.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to follow direction and work collaboratively in a field environment.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to travel between job sites; occasional overnight travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with implementing safety programs, policies, and procedures on assigned projects.
• Support jobsite safety audits, inspections, and hazard-identification activities.
• Monitor jobsites for compliance with safety standards and report findings to safety leadership.
• Maintain safety documentation, including reports, logs, and inspection records.
• Support enforcement of personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
• Work with Safety Specialists and Managers to identify and communicate potential safety concerns.
• Observe jobsite activities and escalate unsafe conditions or behaviors.
• Assist with coordinating safety-related activities on jobsites and supporting safety planning.
• Assist with coordinating and facilitating safety orientations and training sessions.
• Promote safe work practices and encourage open communication of safety concerns.
• Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and project kickoff activities.
• Gather information and documentation related to safety incidents and assist with incident reports.
• Track safety metrics and support timely, accurate reporting.
