About The Position

The Safety Coordinator is essential for maintaining a safe work environment, reducing risks, ensuring compliance, and improving the overall well-being of employees onsite. You will be responsible for overseeing safety protocols, monitoring workplace conditions, and ensuring that employees adhere to safety standards. Your top priority is to adhere to safety policies, programs, and procedures that comply with local, state, and federal regulations. Conduct regular safety audits to ensure compliance with safety regulations and organizational safety standards. Provide safety training for new employees and regular refresher courses for existing employees.

Requirements

  • High School education
  • Minimum of two years in Workers’ compensation experience
  • Proficient understanding of OSHA standards and guidelines

Responsibilities

  • Own safety planning to ensure all projects are ready for mobilization
  • Verify and assist site safety start up requirements prior to the start of Harmon's work, including site-specific safety plan, incident response binder, medical response services/kit, means & methods, silica plan, SDSs and JHAs.
  • Own onsite safety culture and compliance by following up with onsite leadership to ensure safety initiatives are completed.
  • Conduct and facilitate Harmon safety audits, review results with onsite leaders, and ensure all corrective actions have been addressed.
  • Maintain safety records, including safety inspections, accident investigations, employee safety training, and compliance reports.
  • Coordinate with Safety Manager and onsite leaders to ensure proper safety equipment, supplies, and PPE, and verify that any equipment failing inspection is fixed prior to use or disposed of immediately.
  • Act as frontline intermediary for employee safety questions, using critical thinking skills and organizational savvy to direct employees to the proper channels.
  • Evaluate and minimize unique risks by coordinating with onsite leaders to review unique, challenging, or changing scope and means & methods for safety best practices.
  • Track and report on safety performance metrics such as accident frequency rates, near-miss incidents, and safety program participation.
  • Participate in the safety orientation process, collaborating with the Safety Manager and onsite managers to share best practices and ensure content matches work assignments.
  • Coordinate safety training for the OU’s as outlined by Corporate EHS, acting as a resource for OSHA 10 and 30 safety training, and required training for certified, qualified, and competent persons.
  • Manage incident reporting and investigations by reviewing reports, working with the onsite team to determine root cause(s), and following up on corrective actions.
  • Consult and communicate with OU’s to prevent similar future incidents.
  • Build and maintain client relationships by developing a working relationship with customer project site safety representatives.
  • Act as a safety resource by maintaining basic knowledge of OSHA standards, rules, and guidelines, and conducting research and communicating changes to OSHA rules as they occur.
