About The Position

Eastern Iowa Health Center (EIHC), a Federally Qualified Health Center, seeks a full-time and part-time Safety Coordinator to help provide a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and staff across its facilities. The role supports EIHC’s mission to provide exceptional, accessible, and equitable health care through compassionate, trauma-informed interactions that respect individual dignity and well-being. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with hours varying between 7:00 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Compensation is $20.80–$34.32 per hour, depending on experience.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous experience in healthcare, customer service, safety, or security is preferred.
Experience responding to challenging or escalated situations is preferred.

Responsibilities

Promote and maintain a safe, secure, and welcoming environment across EIHC facilities by identifying and addressing safety concerns, supporting security measures, and using compassionate, trauma-informed de-escalation techniques.
Greet patients and visitors.
Help people navigate between buildings and locations on campus when needed.
Monitor the safety and security of interior and exterior areas, including buildings, entrances, exits, parking areas, and surrounding grounds, through regular patrols.
Address concerns involving people congregating on campus or obstructing facility access; request that individuals leave when appropriate and contact leadership or law enforcement for assistance as needed.
Support general campus upkeep by picking up litter, addressing spills, and cleaning common areas as needed, including cleaning bodily fluids when facilities personnel are unavailable, following applicable safety protocols and training.
