About The Position

The Safety Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the safety of field and office staff, investigating accidents, and promoting the company's safety culture to maximize customer satisfaction. This role involves engaging with field leaders on safety-intensive tasks, training new hires, and maintaining a strong safety presence on job sites. The coordinator will also work with customers and general contractors to communicate safety standards and identify potential hazards.

Requirements

• Good command of the English language - verbal and written.
• Good trade & NEC knowledge.
• Mechanically inclined.
• Ability to train, influence and motivate team members.
• Ability to read blueprints and other technical materials.
• Proficient in the use of test meters and other diagnostic equipment.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• At least 2 years of commercial construction safety experience.

Nice To Haves

• Commercial electrical experience preferred.
• Completion of a formal apprenticeship preferred.
• OSHA & EPA standards in relation to construction.

Responsibilities

• Investigate accidents immediately upon notification.
• Ensure the safety of field and office staff.
• Meet with customers to communicate safety culture and maximize customer satisfaction and safety.
• Engage with field leaders on safety-intensive work tasks.
• Train new hires and promote K2 safety culture.
• Assist Foreman & Techs with Safety Specific Work Tasks, including Method of Procedures (MOP’s), hot work permits, field lock out/Tag out policies, and power disconnect/reconnect permit documents.
• Keep safety-related documents updated and accurate.
• Verify installations meet requirements for safety, specifications, and quality.
• Conduct audits of equipment and materials on job site visits.
• Provide specialized training for field employees (e.g., equipment training, trench safety).
• Perform thorough job site inspections weekly with accurate documentation.
• Oversee project safety representatives if assigned.
• Stay apprised of written safety policies, state, and federal OSHA regulations.
• Coach, train, and instruct all employees in safety.
• Conduct reviews of new team members and award white hats.
• Perform site/van inspections for technicians weekly.
• Monitor job sites with site walks weekly.
• Verify toolbox talks and pre-task plans on each site inspection.
• Participate in monthly and/or quarterly Safety Committee meetings.
• Participate in and lead safety topics during leadership meetings and FS meetings.
• Participate in and lead safety topics during the Annual safety conference.
• Meet with General Contractors and site personnel to establish presence and communicate safety culture.
• Work with the general contractor to identify potential hazards and mitigate issues.
• Cultivate good working relationships with general contractors and superintendents.
• Promote safety culture throughout the employee pool with emphasis on company values.
• Assist in documenting investigation interviews.
• Notify the Safety Director immediately of accidents and submit investigation paperwork within 24 hours.
• Investigate and document near misses and develop correction/prevention plans.
• Participate in workforce development by creating and teaching classes.
• Maintain accurate inventory records for consumables.
• Accurately check in and out of safety-related equipment.
