Safety Coordinator

Price Industries•Winder, GA

About The Position

The Site Safety Coordinator is a visible, approachable, floor-level partner who helps employees and Operations recognize exposures, apply approved safety requirements, and verify that safeguards work in practice. Through employee engagement, risk-focused observations, training support, timely reporting, and follow-through, the Coordinator helps integrate safe work into daily operations. This is a developmental role intended to build technical judgment, influence, and future EHS leadership capability. The Coordinator conducts observations and inspections, supports employee and supervisor engagement, assists with incident learning, training, program records, cross-functional safety initiatives, and claims and return-to-work coordination as directed. The position maintains meaningful presence during assigned shift hours and ensures continuity through documented handoffs and timely escalation. The Coordinator may pause work presenting an apparent immediate hazard and facilitate approved routine corrections within delegated authority, but does not assume management approval authority or replace legal, supervisory, and operational responsibilities. The role applies Price’s approved North American safety management system and relevant local legal requirements at the assigned location. Work takes place in a manufacturing environment with industrial equipment, mobile equipment, noise, variable temperatures, dust, and other site-specific exposures. Regular floor presence, walking, standing, appropriate PPE, and occasional schedule adjustments may be required to support operations, emergency response, coverage, and training across shifts. Essential functions and reasonable accommodation are determined under applicable law and company policy.

Requirements

  • Relevant occupational safety education, certificate, diploma, degree, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Foundational understanding of occupational safety principles and site hazards.
  • Ability to interpret and apply approved procedures and learn jurisdiction-specific requirements.
  • Clear communication, basic data analysis, sound judgment, computer/system proficiency, and disciplined follow-through.
  • Approachable and respectful floor presence, curiosity, integrity, willingness to learn, ability to influence without direct authority, and confidence to raise concerns and seek help.
  • Specialized qualifications must be obtained before independently performing regulated or higher-risk duties.
  • Ability to meet the position’s described work-environment expectations, subject to applicable law and reasonable accommodation.

Nice To Haves

  • Manufacturing experience is preferred; candidates with demonstrated capability and strong development potential may be considered.
  • First aid/CPR and recognized safety certificates or designations are assets, as relevant to the site.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct planned and responsive floor observations, inspections, and approved assessments; identify changing work, repeat exposures, serious injury and fatality potential, and gaps in critical controls.
  • Engage employees and supervisors to understand work as performed, recommend feasible improvements, and verify implementation within assigned authority.
  • Build constructive relationships with employees, shift supervisors, and plant leaders; support safety huddles, safety committees, and employee hazard reporting; listen to concerns and provide practical coaching.
  • Respond promptly to injuries, near misses, and high-potential events; support immediate care, scene control, evidence preservation, notifications, and accurate entries.
  • Assist leadership with fact finding, root cause evaluation, and learning reviews using approved processes; track assigned corrective actions, verify evidence, recognize recurrence, and escalate unresolved or significant risks.
  • Support approved onboarding, orientation, job-specific instruction, refresher training, and shift-level safety communication; deliver training only when qualified and authorized, coordinate specialized trainers, and maintain accurate training records.
  • Maintain assigned records in approved systems, including inspections, hazards, permits, committee materials, safety procedures, training, incident information, and corrective actions.
  • Support accurate regulatory logs, required postings and reporting through designated accountable personnel, audit readiness, and review of leading and lagging indicators.
  • Help execute approved programs related to machine safety and guarding, lockout/tagout or hazardous energy control, mobile equipment and pedestrian separation, ergonomics, PPE, chemical safety, emergency preparedness, industrial hygiene, and other site risks.
  • Partner with Maintenance, Engineering, HR, Training, Operations, and other relevant specialists; elevate matters requiring technical review, authorization, or specialist support.
  • Provide timely incident facts and site information to authorized HR, claims, and Safety partners; support safe work accommodation and return-to-work coordination as directed without independently making medical, claim-liability, or employment determinations.
  • Participate in coaching, technical training, and cross-site learning; develop risk assessment, communication, data interpretation, facilitation, and leadership skills; identify practical improvements and share lessons across shifts and facilities.
  • Apply consistent core safety standards and intervention authority across first, second, and third shifts, adapting engagement and delivery to shift operations, staffing, hazards, and language needs.
  • Maintain meaningful floor presence during assigned hours, including during start-up, changeovers, non-routine tasks, maintenance, contractor work, and other higher-risk activities.
  • Document open hazards, temporary controls, events, and follow-up commitments; communicate critical items through documented shift handoffs and contact designated on-call leaders when required; immediately escalate high-risk conditions.
  • Use approved escalation and emergency response arrangements when Safety management is not physically on site.
  • Pause work presenting an apparent immediate hazard, initiate established protective steps, and promptly notify accountable Operations and Safety leaders, consistent with applicable law and Price policy.
  • Facilitate and document lower-tier (Tier 1) corrections under approved standards and site governance, confirming completion within delegated authority.
  • Escalate high-potential exposures, repeat conditions, disputes, overdue high-risk actions, and Tier 2/Tier 3 issues to appropriate Safety and operational leaders.
  • Support applicable U.S. OSHA and state-plan requirements or Canadian provincial, territorial, and applicable federal requirements through designated responsible personnel and approved local processes.
  • Support required language access, documentation formats, emergency coordination, and approved site procedures.
