About The Position

Assists Safety Manager in coordinating and implementing Safety programs to prevent, reduce and eliminate occupational injuries, illnesses, deaths, and financial losses. To train and present safety processes, protocols and requirements. To be the leader of the Safety Committee.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies by daily walks/audits and appraises any conditions that could produce accidents and financial losses.
  • Enforces accident prevention and loss control systems and programs.
  • Assists in the implementation of safety activities with department managers to ensure a safe plant which can include leading inspections and training sessions.
  • Conducts NEW-HIRE SAFETY ORIENTATION PROGRAM.
  • MAINTAINS A TRAINING MATRIX FOR ALL SAFETY DOCUMENTATION AND FILING OF ALL TRAINING DOCUMENTATION.
  • Leads the Safety Committee and STOP Card Program which includes follow up on Action Items and monthly Safety Committee Team plant audits.
  • Provides statistical data of Stop Card findings and reports monthly.
  • Assists with incident tracking to provide statistical data related to exposure factors concerning occupational illnesses and accidents and prepares reports for information of personnel. This will also include timely and proper filing of documents.
  • Promotes Safety and Health accountability within all departments.
  • Provides weekly report to supervisors of attendance to 7-Minute Trainers and provides follow up training.
  • Performs Safety portion of the Onboarding Program for new hires as well as any needed additional group or individual safety training.
  • Conducts Machine Safety Audits including LOTO.
  • Conducts Safety behavior audit for PPE and all safety processes.
  • Learns and assists with Hazardous and Risk Assessment trainings.
  • Conducts Daily and General inspections to look for hazards.
  • Performs Weekly Safety walks with employee engagement and reports all findings and observations.
  • Acts as a liaison between the plant and vendors/contractors regarding safety.
  • Maintains up-to-date Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for all hazardous chemicals.
  • Provides recommendations for improving workplace safety.
  • Assists with assuring safe working conditions during startups.
  • Assists with coordinating the maintenance and repair of fire protection systems.
  • Assists with assuring all signage is in place and not in need of repair/replacement.
  • Assists with site security.
  • Assists with record-keeping/filling requirements.
  • Assists with training new-hires and contractors.
  • Assists with annual training for crews and maintenance personnel.
  • Assists with maintaining and properly packaging of recycle wastes (bulbs, batteries etc.).
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.
