About The Position

Harvest Solar, a Michigan-based company specializing in renewable energy solutions for agricultural, commercial, and utility customers, is seeking a Safety Coordinator. This role is crucial for ensuring site-specific safety and environmental compliance with both Harvest Solar and customer requirements. The Safety Coordinator will collaborate closely with onsite installation crews, site leadership, customer safety representatives, and the Harvest Solar Safety team to guarantee all work adheres to established standards. This position requires 100% travel, including daily and overnight travel.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED, required.
  • Solar installation experience; ground and roof, required.
  • Valid State Driver’s License, required.
  • OSHA 30, required.
  • MIOSHA Level I within 1 year and Level II within 3 years, required.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, employees, and the public.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, especially when handling an accident or incident.
  • Ability to manage daily priorities and ensure task accomplishment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both oral and written.
  • Thorough knowledge of health and safety laws and guidelines.
  • Strong hazard recognition.
  • Ability to write a JHA or perform a risk assessment.
  • Good organizational, leadership and motivational skills.
  • Willing to work hours necessary to support the accomplishment of organizational goals.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to obtain CDL certification, preferred.
  • Training assistance available for OSHA 30.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure a “Safe Culture” through employee engagement, training, coaching, and compliance.
  • Perform safety audits/inspections on construction sites.
  • Participate in post-accident investigation and prepare reports identifying possible accident causes and hazards.
  • Advise onsite management on safety and environmental compliance concerns and preventative actions.
  • Participate in the Safety Department’s planning, developing, implementing, maintaining, and improving industrial safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations, including OSHA and DOT.
  • Assist with documenting safety records, including incident reporting and OSHA reporting, per departmental retention policy.
  • Prepare written reports of findings and recommendations for corrective or preventive measures, and follow up to ensure implementation.
  • Work within the Safety department to identify solutions to safety-related issues on project sites.
  • Participate, if applicable, in Company meetings with government bodies (AHJ) and other organizations (OSHA, MiOSHA) on issues regarding workplace health and safety.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Responsible for stopping work on any equipment or process that is deemed unsafe and reporting the concern immediately to Onsite Management with recommendations for return to work.

  • Voluntary Supplemental Programs: Accident, Critical illness, and Hospital Indemnity available at associate’s expense.
  • Paid Time Off (PTO): 40 hours available annually on January 1st (prorated in the first year). Unused PTO is forfeited.
  • Harvest Solar 401k Plan: Associates auto-enrolled at 3% deferral. Company match available: 3% match on 3% deferral, 3.5% match on 4% deferral, 4% match on 5% deferral. Pre-tax and Roth options available.
