About The Position

We are seeking a proactive and experienced Safety & Compliance Manager to join our Retail business unit. In this site-based role, you will play a critical part in connecting safety and compliance across multiple operational sites, ensuring our people have the skills, support, and systems in place to perform their roles safely. You must be flexible and willing to move between operational sites across the South East and Western suburbs of Melbourne. Reporting to the National Safety & Compliance Manager, you will partner closely with site leaders and frontline teams, delivering audits, leading incident investigations, and driving a strong safety-first culture across the business.

Requirements

  • Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety (minimum requirement)
  • Demonstrated experience in safety management systems, auditing, and incident investigation
  • Strong knowledge of WHS legislation and transport compliance frameworks
  • Experience conducting audits, risk assessments, and safety training
  • Proven ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels

Nice To Haves

  • Diploma or tertiary qualification in WHS (highly regarded)
  • Background in transport, logistics, or similar operational environments (highly desirable)

Responsibilities

  • Support transport and operational compliance, including Chain of Responsibility (CoR), fatigue management and load restraint
  • Conduct site audits, inspections, and risk assessments to ensure compliance with WHS legislation and internal standards
  • Lead incident investigations using ICAM methodology and identify root causes and preventative actions
  • Develop and implement safety systems, procedures, and risk management frameworks
  • Deliver training, coaching, and guidance to leaders and operational teams to strengthen safety culture
  • Analyse incident trends and drive continuous improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver safety programs and achieve compliance targets
  • Support the rollout of Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) strategies across sites
