We are currently looking for an experienced and driven Safety & Compliance Manager to join our Transportation team. Reporting to the Vice President of Transportation, the Safety & Compliance Manager will lead all aspects of transportation safety, fleet compliance, regulatory reporting, insurance and claims management, and driver training initiatives across a multi-terminal operation supporting approximately 200+ assets. This role plays a critical part in maintaining compliance with provincial, federal, and U.S. transportation regulations while promoting a proactive safety culture and supporting operational efficiency through data-driven decision-making.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in transportation safety, compliance, or fleet management
  • Strong working knowledge of MTO, CVOR, DOT, SMS, IFTA, and Hours of Service regulations
  • Experience developing and facilitating training programs and safety initiatives
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience managing insurance claims and regulatory audits
  • Strong analytical and reporting capabilities

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with transportation systems such as TMW, Samsara, or ELD platforms preferred
  • AZ license considered an asset

Responsibilities

  • Lead and promote a strong culture of safety across all transportation operations
  • Develop and deliver driver onboarding, refresher training, corrective coaching, and safety programs
  • Monitor driver performance through telematics, dashcams, and compliance reporting tools
  • Conduct accident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation
  • Ensure compliance with MTO, CVOR, DOT, SMS, IFTA, Hours of Service, and ELD regulations
  • Oversee vehicle registrations, permits, licensing, and preventive maintenance compliance
  • Manage insurance claims, freight claims, and loss prevention initiatives
  • Develop and track fleet performance KPIs, including safety, fuel efficiency, maintenance compliance, and claims trends
  • Maintain audit readiness and support regulatory and customer audits
  • Develop policies, SOPs, and training materials aligned with industry best practices
