The Safety and Compliance Manager oversees all aspects of safety and compliance within the organization. This position will be responsible for understanding safety regulations, risk management principles, and creating a safe and healthy work environment for all employees.

Requirements

  • A High School diploma or equivalent combined with five years of experience up to a four-year degree with three years of experience.
  • Fields of experience can include but are not limited to non-profit management, program management, food systems, public health or another related field.
  • Proof of current, valid Driver’s License, auto insurance, use of a personal vehicle and clean MVR.
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate and participate in virtual meetings and conferences.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook is required.
  • Maintains a professional appearance at all times and represents MANNA in diverse settings.
  • Must possess basic knowledge of, and commitment to, the mission of MANNA FoodBank.
  • Must demonstrate sensitivity and passion related to issues of poverty and hunger relief.
  • Flexible schedule availability for evenings and weekends, as needed.
  • Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to sit, stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • Occasionally required to climb or balance.
  • Must regularly lift and move objects up to 25lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities require the visual acuity to operate motor vehicles; close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus close visual acuity to perform activities including but not limited to preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, extensive reading.
  • Functions also require the ability to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard, and to verbally communicate to exchange information.

Responsibilities

  • Implementing and maintaining rigorous food safety protocols in accordance with regulatory standards, including those set forth by MANNA FoodBank, AIB International, and Feeding America.
  • Ensuring proper food storage, temperature monitoring, and log verification.
  • Overseeing spill kit availability, stock rotation practices, and chemical storage and handling procedures.
  • Conducting regular food handling inspections to maintain FIFO practices and allergen management.
  • Monitoring and verifying temperature logs upon receipt of food shipments.
  • Maintaining proper storage conditions for transported food items, minimizing the risk of spoilage or contamination.
  • Developing and maintaining a system for documenting and tracking incidents and accidents.
  • Conducting thorough investigations to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Developing and implementing action plans to prevent recurrence of incidents.
  • Overseeing vehicle inspections and maintenance to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Implementing driver training programs to promote safe driving practices.
  • Documenting and tracking all incidents and accidents involving company vehicles.
  • Managing and maintaining the alarm system and security response protocols.
  • Developing and implementing emergency communication plans for weather alerts.
  • Coordinating and conducting regular fire and evacuation drills.
  • Organizing and facilitating additional safety practices and protocols for staff.
  • Developing and implementing comprehensive onboarding safety training for new employees.
  • Providing equipment training, including forklift operations.
  • Managing online training programs to address various safety topics.
  • Conducting food handling training to maintain compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Conducting regular Gemba walks within the warehouse to identify potential safety hazards, operational inefficiencies, and areas for improvement.
  • Ensuring that all warehouse safety protocols are strictly adhered to, including proper storage and handling of materials, emergency procedures, and regular equipment inspections.
  • Installing and maintaining appropriate signage and traffic markings.
  • Educating employees on safe parking and pedestrian practices.
  • Overseeing proper storage and labeling of waste materials.
  • Managing waste removal and disposal processes.
  • Ensuring proper storage and handling of chemicals.
  • Implementing ordering and PAR level procedures for chemicals.
  • Maintaining up-to-date SDS sheets, providing regular training on chemical safety.
