This position is within the Office of Transportation Safety (OTS) and supports the mission to reduce the number and severity of employee work-related injuries and accidents. The OTS develops behavioral-based processes, instructional methodologies, training packages, and authors policies and procedures for statewide implementation. This unit ensures the mission is communicated and accomplished at the Regional level by engaging senior management and stakeholders through various methods. As a Safety Technician III, you will provide technical and administrative support by implementing professional standards in communication, answering inquiries from the public and state employees, and providing general safety guidance. You will develop and implement office policies and processes to increase efficiency, collect, evaluate, collate, and create reports, and complete data entry and tracking in various computer systems. This role involves accurately processing invoices, correspondence, timesheets, personnel forms, and general mail. Operating under the guidance of the Region 3 Safety Officer, you will assist the safety unit with administrative needs, support the operations of the Region’s Occupational Safety programs, and develop technical tracking means for various safety programs. You will also aid in evaluating hazardous conditions/practices and provide technical assistance in measuring, auditing, and evaluating hazard controls and safety training.
