About The Position

The Safe School Assistant provides disciplinary supervision to secondary school students and performs related work as required. The role assists teachers and administrators by supervising a disciplinary program for designated students and providing tutoring and supplemental instruction. It differs from the Elementary Safe School Assistant role because secondary students are older and larger, and aggression and behavior interventions may involve more serious circumstances and consequences. The position receives general supervision from the building Principal or a Vice-Principal. Primary duties are performed in classroom and detention-room environments, with exposure to physical hazards from disruptive and aggressive students. The role is listed as 7.5 hours per day on a 179-day paraprofessional calendar, with a salary of $19.79. Employment terms are determined by calendar year; employment with the District is at will.

  • If the college-credit or degree requirement is not met and the Praxis has not been passed, the employee will be signed up for the Idaho Paraprofessional Assessment upon hire and must pass it within 90 days of the start date.
