About The Position

This position is a collaborative effort among Bladen Community College, Sampson Community College, and Southeastern Community College and is funded through the Health Educators and Employers Aligned Local Strategies (HE²ALS) initiative. The selected candidate will be employed by one of the participating institutions and will serve the healthcare workforce development needs of the entire Sandhills Regional Partnership. The position will be based at the participating institution determined to be the most appropriate location for the selected candidate and the needs of the partnership, with regular travel throughout the service region. North Carolina's Sandhills region is home to at least six community colleges, five healthcare systems, and a network of K-12 partners all working together to move more students into healthcare careers. As the HE²ALS Regional Healthcare Workforce Strategist, you will serve as the connective link across partner institutions, aligning education, training, and employment efforts so that students have clearer pathways into the healthcare workforce and employers have a stronger pipeline of talent. You will work directly with community college presidents, healthcare leaders, and institutional leadership to shape regional strategy while ensuring that plans translate into coordinated action across the region.

Requirements

  • Associate degree from a regionally accredited institution in education, healthcare, workforce development, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in workforce development, education partnerships, healthcare systems, community colleges, or career recruitment services.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex, multi-institutional collaborations and partnerships without direct supervisory authority.
  • Strong skills in relationship management, data analysis, and strategic planning.
  • Ability to travel extensively throughout the service region, including day, evening, and occasional weekend events.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in education, healthcare, workforce development, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with the Sandhills region and/or North Carolina's community college and healthcare landscape.

Responsibilities

  • Lead regional strategy and partnership alignment
  • Serve as the point person for NC HE²ALS healthcare workforce coordination, setting shared goals across partners and ensuring consistent data and approach.
  • Represent participants in the Sandhills region in any future statewide HE²ALS initiatives and networks.
  • Be an active member of local, regional, and state healthcare organizations and/or advisory boards.
  • Build and maintain deep partnerships
  • Coordinate regular visits to partner institutions to keep engagement strong and collaboration steady among participating community colleges and healthcare systems, including Bladen Community College, Sampson Community College, Southeastern Community College, Cape Fear Valley Health, Columbus Regional Healthcare System, FirstHealth of the Carolinas, and Scotland Health Care System.
  • Turn data into direction
  • Help collect and analyze workforce data to surface trends, gaps, and opportunities.
  • Track student employment outcomes before and after credentialing.
  • Use what you learn to guide strategic regional planning alongside college presidents, healthcare leaders, institutional leaders, and support our partnership with the NC Center for Workforce on Healthcare.
  • Coordinate events that move students toward healthcare careers
  • Partner with colleges and health systems on middle and high school summer camps, parent engagement nights, student facility tours, biannual healthcare advisory board meetings, counselor tours, and regional career fairs. These efforts will make up the bulk of the travel required in this role.
  • Support healthcare workforce communications
  • Help develop digital marketing, outreach, and messaging that supports community colleges and promotes healthcare careers and pathways across the region.
  • Maintain current information for the NC HE²ALS website and the shared recruitment, marketing, and events toolkit used by partners.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the HE²ALS initiative and the goals of the Sandhills Regional Partnership.
