About The Position

Max Downtown, Max Hospitality’s flagship restaurant in Hartford, Connecticut, is hiring a polished, efficient, guest-focused Busser/Food Runner for its front-of-house team. The role supports seamless service in a refined, high-volume dining environment through attention to detail, speed, teamwork, and a commitment to guest experience. Max Downtown is known for its elevated steakhouse experience, award-winning wine list, and extensive whiskey collection, serving business professionals and fine-dining guests. Open availability is required, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

Prior experience as a Busser or Support Server in a fine-dining or upscale-casual environment is preferred.
Understanding of basic service flow and dining room etiquette.
Familiarity with food safety and sanitation standards.
Energetic, attentive, and detail-oriented.
Ability to maintain a clean, organized dining room under pressure.
Strong sense of urgency and excellent time management.
Effective communicator and team player.
Professional appearance and demeanor.
Open availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

Assist servers in clearing, resetting, and maintaining clean tables between courses and guest turns.
Ensure water glasses are filled and anticipate guest needs throughout service.
Maintain cleanliness of the dining room, service stations, and guest areas.
Support timely table setups for reservations and large parties.
Assist with delivering food when needed and communicate guest requests to appropriate team members.
Uphold Max Downtown’s standards for hospitality, cleanliness, and efficiency.
