About The Position
Works under the supervision of the Pharmacy Director and Inpatient Pharmacy Manager. The primary job function of the Registered Pharmacist Ambulatory Manager is to ensure that the foundation offices and urgent cares are compliance with all regulatory rules including Joint Commission medication management standards, Ohio Board of Pharmacy rules and regulations, USP 795, USP 797, and USP 800.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or successful completion of an equivalent High School Exam required.
- Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy (5 year) required.
Nice To Haves
- Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) is also preferred.
- Previous leadership experience preferred.
- Previous community pharmacy experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assists the pharmacy manager with introductory and annual performance appraisals of pharmacists, and lead technicians.
- Schedules the inpatient pharmacists and the cancer center pharmacists.
- Maintains the inpatient pharmacy dashboard.
- Participates in and leads some daily huddles.
- Collaborates with the clinical team regarding new clinical care initiatives.
- Assists in leading clinical meetings.
- Maintains compliance of foundation offices and urgent cares and assures these locations are compliance with all regulatory rules including Joint Commission medication management standards, Ohio Board of Pharmacy rules and regulations, USP 795, USP 797, and USP 800.
- Assists the pharmacy manager in hiring new staff members.
- Serves as the hub site coordinator for University of Findlay.
- Serves as a preceptor for IPPE and APPE students.
- Works with the pharmacy manager and purchasing agent to prepare the annual pharmacy budget.
- Presents pharmacy initiatives to the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.
- Assists the pharmacy director and pharmacy manager and informatics specialist with technology initiatives.
- Assists the pharmacy director and pharmacy manager with pharmacist competency preparation every 6 months.
- Assist the pharmacy director and pharmacy manager with scheduling the IV room recertification.
- Assists the pharmacy director and pharmacy manager in leading the process improvement team.
- With the pharmacy director and pharmacy manager, rounds quarterly with the pharmacists and lead technicians.
- Attends nursing huddles when needed.
- Assists the pharmacy director and pharmacy manager in leading weekly leadership discussions.
- Assists the pharmacy director and pharmacy manager in residency coordination.
- Compounds and dispenses medications and pharmaceutical supplies according to accepted standards of practice to fill written prescriptions issued by qualified prescribers.
- Checks the accuracy and appropriateness of all medications dispensed.
- Intervenes clinically with the physician when necessary and appropriate to optimize drug therapy.
- Maintains accurate and appropriate patient profiling and charging records for all inpatient and non-inpatient medication orders.
- Follows accepted standards of practice and adheres to federal, state, and local regulations, as well as the policies and procedures of SOMC and Pharmacy Services.
- Serves as a drug information source for patients, physicians, nursing personnel, hospital staff, visitors, and the community.
- Assists the Pharmacy Manager and Director of Pharmacy with certain assigned reports or projects.
- Maintains a level of professional competency and remains current in the field of pharmacy.
- Assigns, teaches, supervises, and monitors the work of Pharmacy Technicians, students, interns, residents, and externs.
