About The Position

The RPA Summer Intern will work with experienced RPA developers and the Automation team at Rockland Trust to design, test, and support digital bots that automate business processes. The internship offers exposure to real-world automation and digital transformation projects, with opportunities to build technical skills and contribute to improving efficiency and accuracy across the Bank. The intern will assist with automation workflow development using Automation Anywhere, testing and quality assurance, troubleshooting, process analysis, documentation, and monitoring deployed bots. The role also includes collaborative summer projects with interns from across the Bank, including analyzing a real business challenge, developing recommendations, and presenting findings to Bank leadership. The program provides practical experience in RPA development, workflow design, software testing, SQL and database fundamentals, documentation, troubleshooting, project management, and professional communication. Interns receive mentorship and opportunities to collaborate and network with professionals across the organization.

Requirements

Preferred to be a rising junior or senior currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems, or a related field.
Basic understanding of programming concepts such as C#, VB.NET, Python, or JavaScript.
Interest in software development, automation, and emerging technologies.
Understanding of software development concepts and methodologies.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.

Nice To Haves

Familiarity with Automation Anywhere.
Previous internship, coursework, or project experience involving programming, automation, or software development.
Exposure to relational databases and SQL.
Experience with process improvement or workflow analysis.
RPA certifications or coursework in platforms such as Automation Anywhere or UiPath.
Interest in pursuing a career in automation, software engineering, business technology, or digital transformation.

Responsibilities

Assist senior RPA developers in designing and building automation workflows using Automation Anywhere.
Support the development and enhancement of automated business processes.
Participate in identifying business processes where automation could improve efficiency and reduce manual work.
Help test and validate automation workflows for quality, accuracy, and functionality.
Assist with troubleshooting and resolving bot errors under the guidance of experienced developers.
Participate in quality assurance activities to ensure automation solutions meet business requirements.
Assist with documenting automation workflows, technical solutions, and process requirements.
Help map business processes and identify potential automation opportunities.
Support creation of process documentation, user guides, and knowledge-transfer materials.
Help monitor deployed bots and identify, document, and escalate automation issues.
Support maintenance and continuous improvement of existing automation solutions.
Collaborate with fellow interns on summer projects, analyze a real business challenge, develop recommendations, and present findings to Bank leadership.
