About The Position

The RPA Summer Intern will gain hands-on experience helping Rockland Trust develop, test, and support digital bots that automate business processes. Working with experienced RPA developers and other automation professionals, the intern will learn how automation solutions are designed, developed, tested, deployed, and maintained. The role provides exposure to real-world development projects and business challenges while building technical, analytical, communication, and collaboration skills. The intern will also participate in collaborative summer projects with interns from across the Bank. These projects involve analyzing a real business challenge, developing recommendations, and presenting findings to Bank leadership. The internship is intended for students interested in software development, automation, robotics, artificial intelligence, information technology, business process automation, or digital transformation.

Requirements

Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems, or a related field.
Basic understanding of programming concepts such as C#, VB.NET, Python, or JavaScript.
Interest in software development, automation, and emerging technologies.
Understanding of software development concepts and methodologies.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
Willingness to ask questions, learn new technologies, and contribute ideas.

Rising junior or senior status.
Familiarity with Automation Anywhere.
Previous internship, coursework, or project experience involving programming, automation, or software development.
Exposure to relational databases and SQL.
Experience with process improvement or workflow analysis.
RPA certifications or coursework in platforms such as Automation Anywhere or UiPath.
Interest in pursuing a career in automation, software engineering, business technology, or digital transformation.

Responsibilities

Assist senior RPA developers in designing and building automation workflows using Automation Anywhere.
Support the development and enhancement of automated business processes.
Learn how automation solutions are designed, developed, tested, and deployed.
Identify opportunities where automation can improve efficiency and reduce manual work.
Test and validate automation workflows for quality, accuracy, and functionality.
Assist with troubleshooting and resolving bot errors under the guidance of experienced developers.
Participate in quality assurance activities to ensure automation solutions meet business requirements.
Document automation workflows, technical solutions, and process requirements.
Map business processes and identify potential automation opportunities.
Support the creation of process documentation, user guides, and knowledge-transfer materials.
Monitor deployed bots and help ensure automation processes operate effectively.
Identify, document, and escalate automation issues.
Support maintenance and continuous improvement of existing automation solutions.
Collaborate with fellow interns on summer projects, analyze a real business challenge, develop recommendations, and present findings to Bank leadership.
