About The Position

The Route Driver represents Spee Dee Delivery while delivering and picking up freight from customers and shippers. The role is full-time and based in Thief River Falls, Minnesota. The schedule is Monday through Friday, starting at 7:30 a.m. and continuing until the route is complete. An additional 10–15 hours of overtime may be expected each week, with voluntary weekend overtime as needed. Overtime is paid at time and a half after 40 hours per week. Starting pay is $21.00–$26.25 per hour, based on experience, qualifications, skills, and internal equity; compensation growth is based on company policies, performance, and individual development. Spee Dee Delivery is a family-owned and operated company founded in 1978. Its core business is standard, next-day, ground delivery. The company is headquartered in St. Cloud, Minnesota, and employs over 1,800 people across the Midwest.

Requirements

Be at least 21 years of age.
Hold a valid driver's license and have a good driving record that meets company standards.
Be able to operate a manual transmission or be willing to learn.
Have good customer service skills and the ability to work independently.
Be able to pass a DOT physical exam.
Be able to bend, lift, twist, climb stairs, and move freight on and off the company vehicle.
Be able to lift up to 75 pounds.
Be able to work with freight including hazardous materials, perishable food and alcohol, firearms, ammunition, and live animals.
Pass a pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check.

Responsibilities

Deliver and pick up freight from customers and shippers in a timely manner.
Inspect the vehicle and report mechanical problems.
Load the truck in an organized manner to use space effectively and prevent package damage.
Collect payments for certain delivered packages.
Verify pickup contents against shipping papers.
Notify management of problems or discrepancies.
Maintain a professional personal appearance and keep the vehicle clean.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
