Route drivers pick up a packed trailer at the Norwalk, Iowa lot and follow an assigned delivery route. At each stop, they prepare loads for delivery by reading and scanning delivery tickets, locating products, and building dolly loads. They coordinate with customers about where to place products, obtain required signatures, and build relationships with repeat customers. The currently described open route is the Key Account 2am Route. It runs four days per week—Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday—and averages 8–11 hours per day, with a weekly average of 40 hours. The route leaves the Norwalk lot and delivers primarily in the greater Des Moines area. Deliveries are primarily ramp work, unloading products from the truck with a two-wheel cart. Other route schedules described include a daytime 5am route, typically starting between 3:30am and 5am and running Monday through Friday for four or five days per week, with afternoon end times that vary according to order volume; a separate daytime route with 3am and 5am starts on specified weekdays (not currently open); and a Key Account midnight route on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday (not currently open).
