About The Position

The Rooms Manager is responsible for the daily operation of the resort Housekeeping and Maintenance departments. The scope of the responsibility will include but not be limited to the involvement in overseeing all administrative, accounting, property guest service, property housekeeping, associate development and other such functions as required for the two disciplines. The Rooms Manager will ensure the successful implementation and performance. You will be meeting the needs of the owners and covering varying schedules, forecasts and schedules weekly staffing levels, participates in unit inspections daily to ensure standards, trains staff on all ROPs/DOPs standards for both departments, responsible for the selection and development of associates in both departments.

Requirements

  • Strong leadership skills (ability to effectively coach, mentor, and train staff).
  • Strategic thinking.
  • 2 to 5 years of hotel/resort experience.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of Housekeeping and Maintenance departments.
  • Manage administrative, accounting, guest service, housekeeping, and associate development functions for both departments.
  • Ensure successful implementation and performance of departmental standards.
  • Meet owner needs and manage varying schedules, forecasts, and weekly staffing levels.
  • Conduct daily unit inspections to ensure standards are met.
  • Train staff on all ROPs/DOPs standards for both departments.
  • Select and develop associates in both departments.
  • Ensure proper staffing and scheduling for maximum productivity.
  • Control payroll costs to achieve maximum profitability.
  • Communicate priorities to staff through daily and weekly meetings.
  • Ensure guest satisfaction levels meet site goals.
  • Identify areas of process improvement for team and guest efficiency.
  • Manage strict room inventory to achieve highest possible room occupancy percentage by reducing offline inventory.
  • Ensure all guest resolutions are achieved and concerns are responded to.
  • Own and manage the Audit process.
  • Ensure departmental compliance with Quality Assurance, Loss Prevention, and safety standards procedures for both departments.
  • Manage and support all financial aspects of the department.
  • Prepare annual department budget by identifying areas of cost reductions, operational improvements, explaining variances, and analyzing expense data.
  • Maintain cost control and appearance of retail inventory.
  • Function as a liaison with contracted staff to ensure targets and objectives are met.
  • Partner with association stakeholders to promote efficiencies and consistency pertaining to rooms and common areas.
  • Represent the resort in the absence of the General Manager and manage priorities consistent with the operation as a whole.
  • Maintain high-level communication concerning all facets of the operation.
