About The Position

Simon Roofing is seeking a Roofing Service Technician to join its organization. The role is intended for someone with a strong work ethic and basic construction or roofing knowledge who wants to develop into a commercial roofing professional. The company provides extensive paid training to prepare technicians to evaluate low-slope roofing systems, perform repairs and preventative maintenance, and make repair recommendations. Technicians work directly with clients and are expected to be professional, presentable, and effective communicators.

Technicians inspect and repair roofs, perform preventative maintenance, follow safety practices at job sites and while driving, and travel daily to client buildings in a company vehicle. The position involves 40 or more hours per week, including approximately 10–15 hours of paid overtime on average. Out-of-town travel for up to four weeks at a time may be required when local work is unavailable; weekend work may also be needed. Compensation is $23.00–$33.00 per hour, based on experience, with average annual earnings stated as $77,000 or more. Three annual bonus opportunities are offered: a safety bonus of up to $1,500 per year, an individual performance bonus, and a company bottom-line bonus.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of relevant roofing or construction experience, or military experience.
• A valid driver's license is required to become an authorized company driver.
• Must be at least 21 years old to drive a company vehicle.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to travel out of town for up to 4 weeks at a time when local work is unavailable.
• Must be able to work overtime in emergency situations.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly throughout the day.
• Ability to frequently ascend and descend ladders 10 to 40 feet in height.
• Ability to remain stationary for an extended period.
• Ability to work outdoors in varied and extreme weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety practices on the job and while driving.
• Inspect problem roofs and perform roof repairs and preventative maintenance.
• Communicate effectively with clients, including speaking clearly and persuasively, listening, clarifying, and responding to questions.
• Complete tasks on time, follow instructions, and respond to management direction.
• Drive a company vehicle to clients’ buildings daily.
• Load and unload materials and equipment and shovel loose materials such as gravel, sand, metal, snow, or dirt.
