About The Position

The Rodman provides essential support as a member of a survey crew, helping complete land surveying projects under the direction of the Party Chief. The role involves preparing and maintaining equipment and supplies, assisting with field measurements and staking, and supporting other surveying tasks. The position requires working outdoors in varied weather and terrain and regularly lifting and carrying equipment weighing up to 35 pounds.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED certification.
Ability to grasp basic surveying concepts and techniques.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels.
Ability to follow supervisors’ directions and work collaboratively with engineering staff and management.
Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in all types of weather conditions and terrain.
Physical ability to regularly lift and carry survey equipment weighing up to 35 pounds.
Dependability, reliability, and ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Responsibilities

Clear brush and obstacles to maintain line of sight.
Carry and set up equipment, including rods, tripods, and prisms, for staking and measurement.
Load and unload survey equipment and supplies for job assignments.
Maintain survey supplies, such as nails, paint, rods, and flags, to prepare the crew for daily tasks.
Gather supplies, dig for corners, and cut lines.
Search for and correctly identify monuments.
Plumb prisms to ensure accurate measurements.
Measure distances using chains, tape, or other methods.
Clean and maintain survey equipment.
Complete other field-surveying tasks as assigned.
