The Land Surveyor is responsible for land surveying activities, including pre-construction and as-built surveys, earthwork and volumetric calculations, field-note reduction, balancing level runs, and boundary and sectionalized land breakdown. The position interprets and retraces land and legal descriptions, prepares Parcel Maps and Records of Surveys, and performs other assigned duties. The role interprets, reviews, and reduces survey field data—including standard survey data, scanned data, photogrammetry, and point clouds—and prepares survey calculations and notes for projects. It provides technical survey expertise to construction and design personnel and coworkers, supports accurate boundary resolution, and serves as a troubleshooting liaison for engineering plans and field notes. The position also coordinates and provides direction in the absence of the leader, represents the department on projects and in meetings, and interfaces with consulting surveying firms and internal customers. The position requires an EAC/ABET-accredited bachelor's degree or Board-approved equivalent and eight years of survey experience. Candidates without a degree must have at least 12 years of related experience as a Land Technician or in a similar capacity. Nevada Professional Land Surveyor registration is required or must be obtained within 12 months of hire. Depending on applicants’ qualifications, the position may be filled at a lower level. The work is performed in a general office environment; some travel may be required. No special physical demands are required.
