Rodent Pest Control Technician - Residential
About The Position
ABC Home & Commercial Services is hiring a Residential Rodent Pest Control Technician serving the greater Austin area. The technician provides customer service at homes and businesses, listens to concerns about pest-control services, identifies pests and their sources, recommends treatments and prevention measures, and applies appropriate extermination techniques. Compensation is commission-based, with first-year potential earnings of $40,000–$50,000 based on performance and opportunities to earn additional income through the Lead Now program. Paid training is provided. The role requires work indoors and outdoors, including roofs, ladders, heights, and crawlspaces, sometimes in extreme temperatures. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with at least one Saturday per month on a rotated team schedule; for four months each year, technicians may be asked to work two Saturdays per month. Hours are described as “start to finish job.” Applicants must be local to the greater Austin area.
Requirements
- Valid, active, insurable driver's license with an issue date at least five years before the application date.
- Ability to work on roofs, at heights, on ladders, and in crawlspaces.
- Dependable and disciplined, with a desire to work year-round.
- Serious, sincere, and cooperative approach to work.
- Ability to perform specialized work efficiently, confidently, and competently.
- Ability to follow guidelines and procedures set by ABC and the Texas Department of Agriculture.
- Excellent communication and customer-service skills.
- Ability to work at least one Saturday per month.
- Ability to work indoors and/or outdoors for extended periods, sometimes in extreme temperatures.
- Strong interpersonal and customer-service skills.
- Ability to prioritize work and handle pressure and irate customers while maintaining composure.
Nice To Haves
- Previous pest- or rodent-control experience; not required, as paid training is provided.
- Experience working with routes and service stops and meeting route deadlines.
Responsibilities
- Listen to customers’ concerns about pest-control services and recommend appropriate treatments or solutions.
- Identify pests and their sources, develop solutions to eliminate them, and recommend prevention measures to maintain pest-free homes.
- Apply chemicals or mix liquid, powder, or gas solutions and use other extermination techniques inside and around homes or buildings.
- Work indoors and outdoors for extended periods, sometimes in extreme temperatures, and work on roofs, at heights, on ladders, and in crawlspaces.
- Prioritize workload, work under pressure, and handle irate customers while maintaining composure.
- Maintain requirements set by the Texas Department of Agriculture and attend continuing education courses provided by ABC.
- Maintain a positive attitude with customers, coworkers, and supervisors.
- Use electronic devices, including a company phone and software, to perform job-related tasks efficiently.
