About The Position

BGE, Inc. is a nationwide civil engineering consulting firm offering opportunities across disciplines for public and private infrastructure projects. The Rod Technician assists a Party Chief with a variety of surveying work and performs routine tasks to become familiar with surveying equipment, terminology, and procedures. The work includes outdoor field activity and following safety requirements. No previous experience is required.

Requirements

• No previous experience required.
• Willingness and ability to cut brush and hammer iron and wood stakes.
• Willingness and ability to follow safety requirements.
• Willingness and ability to learn traffic control and safety procedures for various surveying and construction operations.
• Ability and willingness to learn proper care, cleaning, and use of surveying tools and electronic equipment, including the tribrach and tripod.
• Ability and willingness to lift 50 pounds, work outdoors for 8–10 hours a day, and walk 2 miles.
• Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, and others.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Party Chief, as directed, with boundary, topography, ALTA, right-of-way, and construction surveys for public and private clients.
• Perform routine tasks to become familiar with equipment, terminology, and operating procedures.
• Cut brush and hammer iron and wood stakes.
• Follow safety requirements.
• Perform routine work that does not require previous experience.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
